Congratulations Stone Ranch - a California Distinguished School!
Stone Ranch Elementary School is a dynamic learning community which opened August 26, 2004. The dramatic buildings, clustered around the Center Courtyard, are home to over 750 eager, inquisitive, energetic Trailblazers who are active participants in their learning. The school is one of the largest elementary schools in Poway. Our site consists of forty-five classrooms in grades PreK through 5th grade.
For those students who have late summer or fall birthdays, we offer Transitional Kindergarten to meet the students' unique needs and best prepare them for academic, social and emotional success. For our youngest Trailblazers, we have 2 preschool classrooms on site to serve the needs of our growing community.
At our school, we realize that it is our shared and individual stories that connect us as a community. Stone Ranch strives to "Honor Our Past, Explore Our Present, & Discover Our Future" with a commitment to ensuring that all Trailblazers feel safe, valued, and inspired to be their authentic self and members of our dynamic learning community.
Monthly morning gatherings build community and establish the Trailblazers traditions of celebrating each other, honoring our country, practicing our 6 pillars of character and having fun together. Our school reflects the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of our broader community. We provide our learners with a rigorous, supportive culture that includes comprehensive instruction in basic skills, integrative units, problem/project-based learning, small group activities, and writing-reading & math workshops. A strong sense of community is built upon mutual respect and the meaningful contribution of all members. We place an emphasis on the Character Counts! pillars of Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and good Citizenship. (TRRFCC)
At Stone Ranch, we strive to create an environment where each and every student feels safe, valued, and inspired to be their authentic self. Trailblazers enjoy a rich learning environment and the respect and admiration of their teachers, support staff, and fellow students. They know they are the center of our school, decisions are made in their best interest, and that adults encourage them to learn, explore, and discover.
Some of our students face the typical challenges of growing up: being new to the community and school, divorce, blended families, dual working parents, deployed parents, multi-generational families, and transience. Our competent and caring staff, student success teams, leadership opportunities for children, early intervention programs, TK two-year kindergarten program, counselor, and trained parent volunteers prepare our children and their families for success. Our children know that we respect their opinions and are committed to giving them a voice and the tools they'll need to use their voice for the greater good. Our school is a place where students and staff are inspired to come to school, each and every day ready to blaze a trail for our future!
